Even the best-planned holiday can meet the unexpected: a sudden illness, a cancelled trip, a delayed suitcase or a lost passport. Travel insurance helps cover the costs these situations can bring, so a setback does not become a financial worry. Luxara Holidays offers travel insurance options alongside your holiday, flight, hotel and visa bookings, and helps you choose cover that suits your destination, trip length and travellers, including the travel medical insurance that a Schengen visa requires.
Medical treatment abroad can be expensive, and your health insurance in India may not cover you overseas. Travel medical cover helps pay for emergency treatment, hospitalisation, emergency medical evacuation and repatriation if you fall ill or are injured during your trip, within the limits of your policy. If you are applying for a Schengen visa, travel medical insurance is mandatory, and we help you choose a plan that meets the requirement before you apply.
Holidays are often booked months ahead, and life does not always go to plan. Trip cancellation cover can reimburse non-refundable costs such as flights, hotels and tours if you have to cancel for a reason your policy covers, such as a sudden illness or a family emergency. Trip interruption cover helps when you must cut your holiday short and return home, and flight delay cover can pay a set benefit when your flight is delayed beyond the number of hours stated in the policy. Every plan lists its covered reasons and exclusions, and we explain them clearly before you buy.
Arriving without your suitcase can disrupt the first days of any trip. Baggage delay cover helps with the cost of essentials such as clothes and toiletries while you wait, and baggage loss cover helps replace checked-in belongings that are lost, within the limits of your policy. If your passport is lost or stolen abroad, passport loss cover can help with the cost of obtaining an emergency travel document or a new passport from the nearest Indian embassy or consulate. Keep printed and digital copies of your passport, visa and policy documents to make any of these situations easier to handle.
Benefits, limits and exclusions vary from plan to plan, so we take you through the details of each option before you choose.

Carry your policy and the insurer's emergency assistance number, and enjoy your holiday with peace of mind.
It depends on your destination. Travel medical insurance is mandatory for a Schengen visa, and some other countries ask for proof of insurance as part of their visa or entry process. Where it is not required, we still strongly recommend travel insurance for every international trip, as medical treatment abroad can be expensive.
Your policy must provide at least 30,000 euros of cover for emergency medical treatment, hospitalisation and repatriation, including repatriation in the event of death. It must be valid in all Schengen countries and cover the whole of your stay, so the dates on the policy should match the travel dates in your visa application.
Buy it as soon as your trip is booked. Cancellation cover then protects you for longer before departure, and if you are applying for a Schengen visa, you will need proof of insurance for your application.
This varies by plan. Many policies exclude pre-existing conditions or cover them only in limited situations. Always declare any existing illness honestly when buying a policy, as an undeclared condition can lead to a claim being rejected.
Report it at the airline's baggage desk before you leave the airport and ask for a Property Irregularity Report (PIR). Keep your boarding pass, baggage tag and receipts for any essentials you buy, and inform your insurer as soon as possible.
Report the loss to the local police and keep a copy of the report, then contact the nearest Indian embassy or consulate, which can issue an emergency certificate for your return to India or a new passport. Carrying copies of your passport and visa makes the process much easier.
Many standard plans exclude or limit activities such as scuba diving, skiing, skydiving and high-altitude trekking. If adventure sports are part of your holiday, tell us when you plan your cover so we can check whether they are included or can be added.
Common exclusions include undeclared pre-existing conditions, travelling against medical advice, incidents under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and belongings left unattended. Every policy lists its own exclusions, so read the policy wording carefully before you travel.
